The coronavirus pandemic was the last call for the Pub by Wegmans.

Wegmans stopped service at the Pubs months ago in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, but has now confirmed the bar restaurants will not reopen.

Wegmans had 12 Pub locations, including one at 8270 Transit Road in Amherst.

“We know those who love our Pub restaurants will be disappointed to learn that we have made the decision not to reopen our 12 Pubs across the company,” said Michele Mehaffy, a Wegmans spokesperson, in an email. “We are focused on applying our culinary expertise to the increasing demand for fast, casual meal solutions available in our stores, for pickup, and through delivery.”

The sit-down Pub restaurants were located at Wegmans grocery stores and offered table service featuring casual food and adult beverages.

All Pub employees were offered positions elsewhere in the company, Mehaffy said.
